Our Curriculum Rationale - what do we want for our children?

Our curriculum offer provides a developmentally appropriate and holistic solid foundation for children to develop and build upon new skills, embrace their individuality and to feel valued. This learning adventure is shared with all our families.

In order to do this, we will extend opportunities to enable our children to explore a range of rich experiences, to develop a strong 'can do' attitude and to build confident communicators.

We also recognise the awe and wonder of the natural world and encourage our children to be confident to experience new things and be resilient when changes occur.

What informs our practice?

Child at the centre..........Adapting our curriculum to meet need..........Starting points..........The individual child and our ability to quickly 'tune' into their needs.

Our understanding and knowledge of child development..........Understanding background, experiences and home life.

Early identification..........Sharing practice..........Child's interests..........Communication..........Strong team..........Valuing each other..........Good relationships.

How do we achieve what we want for our children?

We look at the individual child's starting points.

We quickly identify gaps in learning.

We make adaptions to allow for different learning styles.

We have personal knowledge of the child and speak to parents on a regular basis.

We provide a calm, safe, happy space where children develop a love for learning.

We have good planning and our curriculum is progressive.

We communicate with our colleagues and value and support each other.

We have good training opportunities both in house and external.
